2 Players I Would Trade for Payton Pritchard and 2 I Would Not

2021-01-19

NBA Celtics

The Celtics’ 26th pick, Payton Pritchard has defied expectations of NBA fans by becoming an important rotation player for Boston. Stevens has shown immense trust in Pritchard leaving him in to finish games most notably against the Miami Heat where Payton wrapped things up with a game winning layup. One can only assume that Danny Ainge’s phone has been blown up by teams begging to flip whatever assets they can cobble together into the illustrious Pritchard and we all know Ainge is no stranger to swapping stars. So, if Ainge is ready to seriously consider moving on from the new Tyler Herro, here is what I would suggest –

The Great Stream-Off, Week 3: Romantic Comedies

2020-09-14

Film & TV

This week, we’re talking about romantic comedies. And before you give a heavy sigh of chagrin, just wait a second. From The Philadelphia Story to When Harry Met Sally, rom-coms have been allowing us to turn off higher brain function and warming our hearts for decades. Whether you love the rom-com genre or you hate it, you have to admit it’s been around pretty much since the beginning of time. They’re not going anywhere. And for good reason! Sometimes you don’t want to watch a heart-wrenching drama, or use up a bunch of brain power trying to untangle the mechanics of a fast-paced action sequence. Sometimes, you just want to watch two attractive people fall in love.

With the preliminary stats already in, mainstays Netflix and Amazon Prime seem to be at the front of the pack in the great streaming war. However, it’s time to zoom in and focus on some of the specifics.

The Michael Jordan of Fans: Tales of a Cameron Crazy

2020-08-17

Basketball Duke

“I have earned the right to be at this game. I put blood, sweat, and tears into my craft. I am the Michael Jordan of fans. Nobody’s gonna out-work me.” This is the mindset of every tenter who walks into the Duke-UNC game on gameday. I have spent 5-9 weeks living in a tent with 11 of complete randos from all over Duke’s campus. I have given up warm sleeps in my comfy dorm beds to sleep in the cold and get woken up at 3am by a siren. I have sprinted to K-ville from all the way across campus. I have studied with Quizlet flashcards to know everything there is to know about my team. I am the epitome of dedication. This is my lifestyle.

The Great Stream Off, Week 1

2020-08-17

Film & TV

Watching sports teams around the world struggle to return to normal - or at least a new normal - in the age of COVID-19 can be upsetting and stressful. After all, it’s just another reminder of how much our world has changed in the past few months. But one thing that has remained the same is our addiction to TV. In fact, thanks to the many months of quarantine with nothing else to do, and the multitude of new streaming sites being launched, our streaming obsession has probably gotten even more intense.

As Player Movement Becomes The New Norm, College Basketball’s Landscape is Set to Shift

2020-07-06

Basketball College

Player movement is, for good reason, a staple of the NBA. Superstars such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard have each used free agency as a vehicle to new teams in the last two years alone, drastically altering the league’s balance of power in the process. Player movement has always been a tenet of the NBA — a stark contrast to the four-year commitment a college player makes to their school and team. Until now.

COVID-19 Ping Pong

While most people have used quarantine to relax, learn a new skill, or remind themselves why they don’t enjoy spending time at home, I have been looking for something to fill the void left by the cancellation of every major sports league around the world.

Zion on Campus

Duke Zion College

If you do not already idolize Zion Williamson, you are about to. Besides being the number 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, having a $75 million Jordan shoe deal (RIP Zion’s shoe from UNC gameday), and having the best dunk highlight real ever, one year ago, Zion was simply a 19 year old college-aged kid and my classmate.
